Camogie 3rd Level coaching Academy

Posted 19th Sep 2024
Author Aaron Beresford (Development Officer)

The Third Level Coaching Academy is an exciting new initiative aimed at increasing the number of coaches in third-level camogie. The Third Level Coaching Academy is designed to support and develop students who are interested in coaching camogie teams within their institutions and lessen the workload on full-time third level staff in securing adequate coaching cover for their respective teams.

Programme Overview:

  • Bursary Support: Students who are selected for the Academy will receive a bursary to assist with coaching-related expenses.
  • Buddy Coach System: Each bursary recipient is required to secure a "buddy coach" who will learn from them throughout the year, creating a pipeline of future coaches.
  • Mentorship & Development: It is hoped that bursary recipients would receive ongoing support from their University GDA/GPO, including access to resources, a development plan, and mentoring, where possible.
  • End-of-Year Workshop: An end-of-year workshop/CPD event will be organised, where bursary recipients and their buddy coaches can share experiences.
